Easy Cataraft Frames

(Details matter in boat building.)

I floated my first Western creek at as a child. At 17, I was paid to row a raft and recently rowed the Grand Canyon, Main Salmon, Lower Salmon, and  John Day at age 61. Over these years, I have built boats.

The first boat was a sleeping pad shaped piece of hard plastic foam about as thick as a kindergartener's leg. My second boat was as a Scout we made canvas and plywood kayaks. They had a canvas top over the legs and behind you, but the paddle area was open with no skirt. We used paint to make them water resistant.

In college, I bought a used 18' Havasu from a Southern Utah outfitter. The boat cost more than my car. In my 30s, I started messing with raft frames and by my 40s started building my own. My preference is frames for big water catarafts because they can have a step at both ends between the tubes.

These steps make a cataraft with this type of frame much easier to get on and off of than a round boat. All genders also like that they can stand on a step to urinate and not have to get in the water, or pull over to shore so they can go by the side of the boat.

With proper adjustment and regular maintenance, an Easy Cataraft Frame will last a lifetime.

Paddleboard and Surfboard Racks

I had no plans to start building side racks for vans or campers, but when parts to modify my current side van rack for a new Sprinter Build I was working on became unavailable, looked at my most recent raft frame project and determined I could use raft frame parts and pieces to build my own side rack.

The result is Easysuprack, which is easy to mount, fully adjustable, and is very durable. All production is done with a focus on sustainable materials, repurposed packaging when feasible, and a constant focus on using products that have the longest durability and least impact on the environment.

The Easysuprack has been road tested on dirt roads and interstate across the West. With proper adjustment and regular maintenance, a rack will last a lifetime.
